Integration Ideas

When using Christ-Centered Curriculum
Add to your curriculum:
• at Level B2: grade one Pathway readers/workbooks for reading comprehension skill development and reinforcement of phonics skills taught in the CCC

• at Level B2 OR B3 add in Climbing to Good English Grade 1 for reinforcement of CCC grammar and writing skills and other language arts skills.

• Proceed through all of the CCC levels and continue on through the Pathway and CGE graded materials.

For Spelling
Working With Words - begin when child has completed the CCC Phonics Drill Reader or begins Grade 5 Pathway.

• The Pathway workbooks also have spelling lists.

For Grammar
Climbing To Good English - begin with Level 1 when child is in CCC Level B:2 or B:3 or begins Grade 1 Pathway. You enter CGE at the same grade level as you are using in Pathway Readers.

For Writing Skills
Climbing to Good English - begin with Level 1 when child is in CCC Level B:2 or B:3 or begins Grade 1 Pathway. This program teaches all the various aspects of writing from basic sentence construction to complex report writing and proof-reading. Until age 8 or 9, I recommend the child dictates writing assignments to a parent and then copies the work into their own notebook, thereby reinforcing correct rather than poor spelling and grammar habits.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
All of these materials can be used on their own. They are totally independent of each other. We have found that by using them together your child will receive an very well rounded course in every aspect of English. Many of these suggestions are for younger children. For an older child, start with Pathway and Climbing To Good English at their appropriate grade level. Please note - Pathway and CGE tend to be approximately a grade level higher than many curriculums. (Eg. Grade 3 is more like grade 4.)
